Trusted support for a better life · Edinburgh
We're AGEPAL. We're like temporary children or nieces and nephews — family you can call when you need a hand. Not nurses. Not strangers in uniforms. Just someone who shows up, helps with whatever needs doing, has a cup of tea with you, and makes sure you're okay.
We do everything a family member would do — if they lived closer.

The problem we solve
The window that used to take five minutes now takes half an hour. The garden you once loved now feels like too much work. The dog still needs walking. The tablet your grandson gave you — you still can't figure it out. The body slows down. The spirit doesn't.
Your children want to help. They really do. But they live two hours away. Or they have their own families. Or they're just exhausted.
That's why AGEPAL exists. We don't replace your family. We're just extra hands when they can't be there. Someone who shows up, listens, helps, and leaves you feeling lighter.
We don't help because you're old. We help because life is still happening.
Who we are
We're temporary children and nieces and nephews. We do everything they would do — cook, tidy up, walk the dog, help with the tablet, go shopping together, or just sit and listen.
There are no separate “services.” There's just us, showing up, doing what needs to be done. A Pal who comes to share your day, help with the little things, and make life feel normal again.
We're not a care agency. We're a family you can borrow.
What we do
That's exactly what we do:
There's no list of services. There's just you, us, and whatever needs doing. If your family would do it — and it doesn't need a medical licence — we'll do it.
How it works
Pick the plan that fits your life — from 2 to 21 hours of support per month.
Tell us what you need — even if it's just "I'm not sure, just someone kind".
We find a local Pal who matches your needs, personality, and routine.
Within 24 hours of your booking, we'll contact you to arrange your first visit. During that visit, we'll agree on a schedule that works for you — so you know exactly when your Pal will come, every time.
Your Pal comes regularly, helps with whatever needs doing, and keeps you company. Your family gets updates (with your consent). And you stay independent.

What our clients say
I was lonely after my husband passed. My daughter worried about me constantly. Then we found AGEPAL. My Pal comes every week. She helps me with shopping, we make tea together, and she showed me how to video-call my grandchildren. I feel like I have a new friend — and my daughter sleeps better at night.
Dad lives alone and refuses to move into a care home. I live two hours away. AGEPAL matched him with a Pal who comes every Thursday. He helps around the house, waters the plants, and they chat for hours. Dad is happier, and I no longer dread the phone ringing.
I had a fall last winter and lost confidence going out. My Pal takes me for short walks in the park — arm in arm, at my pace. We also go to the garden centre and once we took the bus to the beach. He never rushes me. I feel safe and free again.
Mum used to say 'don't worry, I'll manage'. Now she says 'don't worry, AGEPAL will come'. That says it all. The Pal helps with everything — and just being there. She looks forward to the visits. We can't thank AGEPAL enough.
Tell us what would help — even if it's "I'm not sure, just someone kind". We'll find a Pal who fits your life, your home, and your pace.
Live your life, your way, in the home you love.
Our bigger dream
This is bigger than one service. An independent, safe and trusted platform where older people (and their families) can get almost anything they need — and be 100% sure of quality, honesty and care.
No more hunting through Google and hoping. No more falling for scams. No more “someone recommended someone” who turns out to be a cowboy.
We are building the platform we ourselves will want to use when we get older.
We will add more as the community grows: reliable meal partners, pet care when you're unwell, life-story recording, intergenerational connections… Everything that makes later life feel safe, connected and still fully yours.
FAQ
If your own child or niece or nephew could do it without a medical licence — so can your Pal. Light cleaning, cooking, shopping, walking the dog, tech help, going for walks, visiting the cemetery, just sitting and talking. We don't have separate services. We just help.
No. We're not carers. We're not an agency. We do not provide regulated personal care (like bathing, dressing, or administering medication).
No. You can book 2, 4 or 6 hours whenever you need them. Packages are simply prepaid hours at a better rate — no monthly fee attached.
You use them for anything. Everything is included. Book visits of 2, 4 or 6 hours until the hours are used. Packages are valid for 3 months from purchase.

Right now, yes — Edinburgh and nearby. We grow as our Pals grow. Glasgow and Aberdeen are next.
It's our bigger dream — an independent trusted platform where older people can safely get all the practical help they need (tech, tradespeople, appointments, paperwork, home safety and more) without fear of scams or poor quality. AgePal companionship is the first brick.
It is not a donation and not a charity. It is a voluntary contribution to help us build the private AgePal Eco System faster. 100% goes into development, vetting systems and expansion. You can give once or monthly. Every bit helps create the safety we all want for our later years.
Become a Pal
As a Pal, you become like a temporary family member to someone who needs you. Practical help, yes — but also kindness, patience, and reliability. Many Pals say it's the most meaningful work they've ever done.
Whatever the person needs — within that booked time. Cook, tidy, walk a dog, help with a phone, go for a walk, sit and talk. Every visit is different. Always kind.
You'll earn a competitive hourly rate (£16–21/hour depending on experience). Your rate grows as you gain experience and build a good reputation — plus monthly bonuses.
